The story of conservative policy victories in North Carolina begins with the tax and budget reforms of the early 2010s. The Tax Simplification and Reduction Act of 2013 began a process of lowering taxes on all North Carolinians that has fueled strong economic growth and made North Carolina one of the most desirable places to live and operate a business.
Since 2013 conservative leaders at the North Carolina General Assembly have lowered personal income taxes from 7.75% to 3.99%, and are poised to go lower in coming years.
Preserving lower taxes is critical to North Carolina’s continued success. Two weeks ago we shared a study demonstrating how prudent reforms to the existing revenue triggers will protect the state’s economy in future years.
