Historic Tax Relief, Forward Thinking Reforms

The story of conservative policy victories in North Carolina begins with the tax and budget reforms of the early 2010s. The Tax Simplification and Reduction Act of 2013 began a process of lowering taxes on all North Carolinians that has fueled strong economic growth and made North Carolina one of the most desirable places to live and operate a business

Since 2013 conservative leaders at the North Carolina General Assembly have lowered personal income taxes from 7.75% to 3.99%, and are poised to go lower in coming years.

Preserving lower taxes is critical to North Carolina’s continued success. Two weeks ago we shared a study demonstrating how prudent reforms to the existing revenue triggers will protect the state’s economy in future years

Conservative House leaders have taken a forward thinking approach to this challenge, with a proposal for prudent reforms that would protect lower taxes and continued financial solvency.
