Business Facilities Magazine Names North Carolina 2025 State of the Year

Business Facilities Magazine has named North Carolina as their 2025 State of the Year.

From the Business Facilities press release:

Leading advantages in workforce and education, infrastructure, and incentives land the Tar Heel State the top spot in this annual economic development award from Business Facilities magazine.

Business Facilities is pleased to name North Carolina as its 2025 State of the Year. This annual award presented by Business Facilities for nearly two decades recognizes a state for its successful business climate and economic development growth in the previous year. The evaluation conducted by the editorial team focuses on significant factors impacting corporate relocation and expansion decisions. This marks the third time Business Facilities has recognized North Carolina, with the state selected as 2020 State of the Year and 2022 State of the Year

    Later in the release:

Says Business Facilities Editorial Director Anne Cosgrove, “From JetZero choosing Greensboro, NC at the Piedmont Triad International Airport grounds for the site of its first commercial airplane manufacturing facility to biotech firm Genentech building a manufacturing plant in Wake County, the state’s economic development infrastructure supports the growth of new and existing companies. Emerging supply chains are being cultivated here as well. One example is Vulcan Elements, a manufacturer of rare-earth magnets locating in Johnston County for its rare-earth magnets facility with plans to invest nearly $1 billion and create 1,000 jobs.”

North Carolina has racked up numerous recognitions in recent months, thanks to the smart fiscal policy the forward-thinking conservative House majority has championed. CNBC named North Carolina the Top State for Business in July 2025, and in January the U-Haul Growth Index showed that North Carolina’s tax reforms are driving growth.
