House Speaker Tim Moore announced the composition of 44 committees and subcommittees last week for the 2023 ‘long session.’ Each legislator is assigned to one or more committees, depending on their interests, background, and areas of expertise. The lion’s share of the legislature’s work is done in committee meetings, and many committees continue their work throughout the year — even when the General Assembly is not in session.
“As the long session gets underway, I look forward to working with this bipartisan group of leaders to ensure an even stronger North Carolina,” said Speaker Moore. “We have a strong group of committee chairs this session, and I am confident that they will continue to propel our state forward and to the top of the pack.”
